Prof Dr Wolfgang Schaden
Surgeon MD from the University of Vienna and a trauma specialist at Wiener Neustadt. Throughout his professional career, he has served as an air rescue physician and a United Nations peacekeeping commander in Syria. Since 1988, he has been a trauma specialist at the AUVA Trauma Center Meidling in Vienna. Historically, he is the world leader in shock wave medicine, holding the largest number of publications, conferences, and meetings in the field globally. He is widely regarded as the most important figure in shock wave medicine, pioneering early developments, gathering the largest case studies, and contributing extensively through publications and conferences. He is an icon in mechanotransduction and a legend in regenerative medicine. As the founder of the European, German-speaking, and global shock wave societies, including ISMST, where he currently serves as president, he has been a permanent international collaborator, particularly in Latin America, where he has contributed to the growth and development of shock wave medicine for 25 years and has been an international speaker in Colombia on three occasions.
