The Scientific Committee may also determine if your abstract meets the academic requirements for a podium or poster presentation. Both categories will participate in a contest, and the winner of the first prize will receive an award and registration for the ISMST 2026 meeting in Madrid.

Submission Guidelines
Deadline
Abstracts must be submitted electronically via the online submission system by July 17, 2025. Abstracts submitted via email or after the deadline will not be accepted and, therefore, will not be considered for the program or publication.
Assessment
Abstracts will be evaluated for approval based on subject relevance and scientific merit. Additionally, submission order will be considered. As there is a limited number of presentation slots, early submissions will have priority.
Boundaries
There is no limit to the number of abstracts that a presenting author may submit.
Formats
Authors must select a preferred presentation format during submission from the following options:
- Oral Presentation.
- Poster Presentation.
Topics
Abstracts may be submitted under one of the following topics:
- ESWT Physics & Technology Research.
- ESWT Biological Research.
- Tendon, Muscle, and Ligaments ESWT.
- Bone and Joint ESWT.
- Skin Wounds & Scars ESWT.
- Skin Esthetics ESWT.
- Urology & Sexual Medicine ESWT.
- Cardiology ESWT.
- Neurology ESWT.
- Other ESWT.
Review
The ISMST Scientific Committee will review all abstracts, assessing their scientific quality, formal structure, and relevance. The committee will determine which abstracts are accepted and may adjust the final presentation format. The submission date will also be considered in the evaluation process.
Publication
Accepted abstracts will be published in the congress program and the Abstract Book.
Notification
Presenting authors will receive an acceptance/rejection notification via email by August 17, 2025.
Registration Fee
All presenting authors must register and complete the registration fee payment by September 1st, 2025. Failure to do so will result in the removal of their abstract(s) from the scientific program and the Abstract Book. Presenting authors who register before September 1st will receive the early bird discount. After this date, the full registration fee will apply.
Attendance at the Congress
Submission of an abstract represents a commitment to attend the congress or designate a qualified substitute to present and answer questions about the work.
Modifications
Abstract modifications will only be allowed until the submission deadline.
Financial Support
The invitation to submit an abstract does not imply financial support for travel, accommodation, or congress registration costs.
Formatting Guidelines
Language
All abstracts must be written in English.
Title
The title must be limited to 20 words and formatted in sentence case—only the first letter of the first word is capitalized.
Authors
A maximum of 10 co-authors is allowed. Submission of the abstract confirms the consent of all co-authors for publication in the Congress Program and Abstract Book. Please ensure you have the following details for each co-author at the time of submission:
- Full name.
- Title.
- Email address.
- Affiliation (institution, department, city, country).
Presenting Author’s Profile
Abstract Structure
The abstract text is limited to 400 words and must follow this structure:
- Introduction.
- Materials & Methods.
- Results.
- Discussion.
Formatting & Proofreading
Prior Presentation
Authors must indicate whether the abstract has been previously published or presented at another congress.
Disclosure Statement
A conflict of interest disclosure is required. If the study has been sponsored, the institution or company involved must be named.
Technology
For evaluation purposes, authors must specify the ESWT technology used, including the type of device and its manufacturer.
Figures, Charts, and Tables
Up to two (2) images, charts, or tables may be included within the abstract text. Supported file formats are PNG, GIF, JPG or JPEG.
